Tragedy has struck the world of desert racing once again with the death of British rider, Cameron Waugh. Details are currently few, but Waugh was found by KTM rider, Jakub Przygonski, who set off the satellite alarm and performed CPR "to the point of exhaustion," in a desperate and heart breaking bid to save Cameron's life. While medical personal and the Search and Rescue helicopter were there in 13 minutes, Waugh succumbed to his injuries at Mafraq Hospital. According to both race organizers and other riders, many other race participants stopped at the scene of the accident to help out and try to make the area safe for rescue personal.

Cameron was a popular rider who competed regularly in desert challenges and rally raids. His was the first death that has occurred during the Abu Dhabi Challenge. Thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fellow competitors.
