If you were up at 3:30 A.M. because you
have no life were watching the opening two races of the V8 Supercars season, you would have been treated to one of the best battles for position ever, and it was only for second place. In its debut, the Volvo S60 qualified fifth for race one and finished seventh in the hands of Scott McLaughlin. For race two, McLaughlin started second next to Craig Lowndes and ran there for most of the race. Five-time and defending series champion Jamie Whincup had to work his way back through the field after an air gun issue on his pit stop, closing in on second with just a few laps remaining. The Red Bull driver made his move on the last lap at turn nine and that's when the fun began.
